The Executive Chairman of ABI LGA, Hon. Egbala Bassey has described 
Hon. Pastor Joshua Igboke as a man of unwavering spirit, dedication, visionary leadership, and profound commitment to progress which have solidified his reputation as a unifying force and a champion of development within the APC family and the wider ABI community. 

That his integrity, humility, and service-driven approach have left an indelible mark on the political and social landscape of ABI LGA.

Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman and made available.

The chairman said, on behalf of the Government and good people of the LGA, he warmly celebrate the birthday of Hon. Pastor Joshua Igboke,  who has demonstrated people oriented leadership as the current chapter Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), party in ABI.

The Council Boss reiterated that pastor Joshua Igboke's birthday offers him  opportunity to honor a leader whose life reflects diligence, patriotism, and faith in God. According to the CPS, the chairman congratulated pastor Joshua and prayed that as he embark on another year, he wish him abundant blessings, good health, and continued success in his endeavors for the betterment of our community.

In an interview with across section of APC stalwart in the LGA on the personality and contributions of the chapter Chairman to the party, many affirmed that his tenure has brought peace, goodwill and more Progress to the party in the LGA and Cross River State in general.

The Executive Chairman of Abi Local Government Council, Hon. Egbala Bassey has affirmed the sacrifices made by fallen Heroes and these alive as the corner stone of the peace Nigeria enjoy as a country. The chairman disclosed this as he led a solemn and impactful commemoration of the 2025 Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day Anniversary held at the Council Secretariat, Itigidi Abi Local Government Area.

The chairman lauded the bravery and sacrifices of Nigeria’s armed forces, both past and present, who fought gallantly during the First and Second World Wars, the Nigerian Civil War, internal upraising and international peacekeeping missions. 

The Chairman acknowledged the immeasurable contributions of military personnel who paid the ultimate price while some sustained life-altering injuries defending Nigeria's sovereignty and territorial integrity. 

In his words, "We stand here today because of their courage and dedication to our nation’s peace and stability,” 

Demonstrating support for the welfare of veterans and their families, the Chairman made a cash donation to the Nigerian Legion, Abi LGA chapter, and assured the legionnaires of the Council’s unwavering commitment to meeting their needs. He further pledged continued collaboration with security agencies to strengthen the security architecture within the local government.

Hon. Egbala charged security personnel to remain steadfast in their duty to safeguard lives and properties while promising that his administration will maintain an open door and strong partnership with service personnel to foster continuous peace and development across Abi LGA.

The Council’s leadership expressed heartfelt gratitude to all security agencies and personnel for their selfless service and reiterated its support in enhancing the region's security framework.

This commemorative event serves as a reminder of the enduring responsibility to honor, support, and collaborate with Nigeria’s military forces as guardians of the nation's peace and security.

The Federal Government’s designation of January 15 to honor these heroes underscores their invaluable service and enduring legacy. 

The event, held to honor Nigeria’s fallen heroes and active service members, drew notable dignitaries, security personnel, traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and community representatives.

Women Empowerment Brings Peace and Progress at home - Commissioner MIDC

The need for strategic interventions aimed at empowering women of all classes and status has been reiterated by the Commissioner Ministry of International Donor Coordination Elder. Hippolatus Lukpata PhD affirming that women Empowerment brings peace and Progress at home. The Commissioner stated this during a working visit by some development partners to his office New Secretariat Complex Calabar. 

The Commissioner inform that CRS under the able leadership of His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu has carried out geo-mapping of the lands across the 3 Senatorial Districts of the State to ensure crops are cultivated according to comparative advantages. Adding that, due to systematic policies and approaches adopted by the Government the State has recorded significant progress even in the Health sector.

That there is a deliberate policy of Government to ensure that projects don't end at the end of intervention or pilot stage by transiting beyond for the benefit more Cross Riverians, and the Ministry has a Department of Monitoring and Evaluation in addition to the monthly development partners meeting which is meant to track progress made by development partners while M&E also gets to the cites to confirm report earlier presented. He used the occasion to welcome the partners and expressed appreciation for Cross River State to be among the benefiting States.

Earlier, the different projects heads or coordinators and their team took time to ask questions that concerns them and how the Ministry monitor activities of donor partners as some are new project while others have been in operations. 

Some of the projects are Building Agricultural Livelihoods, opportunities Optimal Health for Women and Girls (BLOOM), implemented by UNFPA and UNwomen supported by KOICA and operate 3 States of Adamawa, Kaduna and Cross River State with the objectives to transform the lives of rural women by enhancing their productivity and participations in Agriculture, integrating essential health and protection services by addressing systemic barriers to gender equality, while aligning it's holistic approach with Nigeria national development plans 2021 to 2025.

While the Korea International Cooperation Agency undertakes survey to meet with women in Agriculture to evaluate them as part of consideration for women Empowerment for the BLOOM project, with the objectives to increase Agricultural Productivity and income among rural women and girls through the establishment of women led cooperatives and training centres providing modern and climate-Smart Agricultural Skills and Technologies. 

In attendance were the Hon. Commissioner MIDC, Elder, Hippolatus Lukpata PhD, the Permanent Secretary Barr. Anthony Effiom, the Director of Administration Mrs. Ekaete Okon, Directors and Heads of Departments from the Ministry, while Dr. Andrew Kirima, Head of Office/Programme,  Coordinator UNFPA CRS office, others includes Kayode Adebisi Assistant Manager KOICA, Ibrahim Nurden, Programme Officer UN women, Sola Toye Reproductive health Analysts, etc. The visit featured questions and answers and group photograph.
