It was a harvest of testimonies as family, friends, acquaintances and sympathizers, paid glowing tributes to late Pa Egbe Eleng Azogo who, was laid to rest in his country home Itakogho Echeku, Igbo Imabana, Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State
Delivering a sermon, on leaving an indelible mark on the live of others, the officiating Priest, Rev. Asuquo Umo Bassey of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Igbo Imabana Parish drew his Bible reading from the book of Psalm 116:15 admonished all particularly christian to live according to Christ teaching of love and harmonious coexistence with one another. Stating that late Pa Egbe Eleng Azogo lived a saintly life while on earth as he ensured that those around him enjoyed peaceful atmosphere.
Rev. Bassey called on all to have a sober reflection individually by asking themselves if heaven will welcome them or celebrate them on their return to God as in the case of pa Azogo that even here on earth men have testified about his good life.
Dead is a necessary end for every mortal, not by age. It is a divine partway that everyone must experience and at a time one least expected. The death of pa Egbe Eleng Azogo has been described as a divine will of God following a peaceful transition that characterized his demise at the age of 83.
Late Pa Azogo who was a Civil Servant, headed many stations and served as the pioneer auditor of the Unified Local Government Service in State before his meritorious retirement from the Civil Service.
The funeral service which draws an unpredictable crowd of family members, friends and acquaintances from far and near to his home town, Igbo Imabana in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State is a testament to reciprocating his Godly virtues to honour and respect for both the old and young.
The funeral service conducted according to the tradition of the Presbyterian Church featured lying in state, procession, call to worship, sentence and prayers and anthem by English and Legbo choirs. Also observed was Bible reading, special rendition by gospel band, reading of the deceased biography, tribute and condolences including moments of silence prayer.
In an interview with a across section of sympathizers, who described late Pa Egbe Eleng Azogo as a community mobilizer, a reliable friend to all and a bridge between the older and younger generation, adding that he lived a Godly and practical christian life worthy of emulation and pray for peaceful repose of his soul.
