The Cross River State Civil Service Commission has announced vacancies for qualified medical professionals to fill various positions in the State Civil Service.
The recruitment exercise follows the approval of the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for the employment of eligible Medical Officers into the State Civil Service.
In a job advertisement issued by the Commission, suitably qualified candidates between the ages of 18 and 45 years are invited to apply for the available positions. The vacancies cover five professional levels, namely Medical Officer, Senior Medical Officer II, Senior Medical Officer I, Principal Medical Officer (Consultant) II, and Principal Medical Officer I (Consultant).
According to the advertisement, applicants for the position of Medical Officer are required to possess an MBBCH qualification with one to four years of practice. Candidates for Senior Medical Officer II are expected to have between five and nine years of practice, while those applying for Senior Medical Officer I are required to have between 10 and 15 years of practice. For the consultant positions, applicants are required to possess relevant postgraduate fellowship qualifications, with Principal Medical Officer (Consultant) II requiring one to four years of practice and Principal Medical Officer I (Consultant) requiring five years and above of practice.
The Commission stated that applications are to be submitted online, free of charge, through its dedicated recruitment portal. Applicants are required to upload their highest academic certificate, Certificate of Local Government Origin, Birth Certificate or Age Declaration, as well as NYSC Discharge, Exemption or Exclusion Certificate where applicable.
The Commission further emphasized that certificates submitted by applicants must be obtained from government-recognized institutions and uploaded from the originals.
The application portal is scheduled to open on Friday, September 18, 2026, and close on Friday, September 25, 2026.
The Commission also directed applicants to print a hard copy of their completed application forms after submission.
According to the advertisement, shortlisted candidates will be notified through email or WhatsApp and on the Commission's website between October 2 and October 5, 2026.
Successful shortlisted applicants will subsequently participate in an oral interview through physical appearance at the Commission's Conference Room in Calabar between October 5 and October 9, 2026.
The recruitment exercise is expected to provide an opportunity for qualified medical professionals to join the Cross River State Civil Service and contribute their expertise to the delivery of public services across the state.
